3 Quick Tips to Manage Your E-Mail

Upgrade your Spam Filters~ Go to Google.com and get a good filter to relieve you from all that unsolicited spam. According to Jupiter Research we will receive 1,400 junk e-mails a year by the year 2006. Get a good Spam filter today.

  1. Scan your Messages~ Create new standard for yourself. Scan your e-mails for these 2 defining factors: 1) Who is your email from? 2) What is the subject header? Hit Delete if those 2 factors don't ring your bell, advises Bill Jenson, author of Simplicity in the Workplace'. Bill also suggest that we send e-mail with a definite subject AND due date in the subject line and that we should advise our fellow e-mailers to do the same or risk the Delete key! This practice will lessen your e-mails by at least 50%. I highly recommend Bill's books as great resources for productivity strategies.

  1. Schedule Your E-Mail Checks~ Set specific times vs. constantly to check e-mail. A recommended schedule might be in the beginning of the work day, noon and late afternoon. Quit chopping up your day bouncing back and forth with e-mails, instead be productive and focused. You'll get a lot more done and that's a good thing!
